Personal profile

Biography

Prof. Maeve Duffy, graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 1997 with a Ph.D.(Electronic Engineering) in the area of power electronics. From 1997 - 2001, she worked with the PEI Technologies group at NMRC (now Tyndall Institute), Cork. While there, she participated in several EU and industry funded projects; her work involved the development of circuit models for integrated magnetic components formed in different microfabrication technologies. Since 2001, she has been lecturing in Electrical amp; Electronic Engineering at NUI Galway, and is carrying out research in the Power Electronics Research Centre. Her main research area is in integrated and planar magnetics, including power electronic applications such as VRM inductors, energy harvesting and wireless power systems. She has extensive experience in Finite Element Analysis modelling of magnetic components. She is a senior member of the IEEE.

Research Interests

Magnetic component (inductors, transformers, sensors) modelling and design, including VRM, energy harvesting, sensor and wireless power applications. Circuit design for power electronic applications.
