Abstract
The hemodynamic criteria of a fatal prognosis as described in this paper are similar to those reported in the literature. The prognostic value of Peel's index correlates basically with the hemodynamic criteria. The low risk patients of the Peel groups I and II show no trend towards left ventricular failure and hemodynamic investigations do not appear necessary. Inversely, the poor prognosis of patients in groups IV and V is explained by the importance of the left ventricular failure. The hemodynamic criteria of a fatal prognosis are frequently present in these patients.
