Abstract

(Figure Presented) A novel actuation mechanism in soft anisotropic materials small localized loadings can be transformed into different global movements depending on the material anisotropy direction. The phenomenon is illustrated by experiments on 3D-printed prototypes of soft composite materials with layered microstructures.
