Abstract
Nigel Thrift is a human geographer whose theoretically inclined writings in urban, historical, and economic geography have set agendas and encouraged important engagements with social theory. Moving from studies of time geography and decision making through to studies of finance, performative economies, and affect, Thrift's work has traced a theoretical arc which many others have followed. His strong identification with approaches which have become known as nonrepresentational have made him one of geography's most influential thinkers, while his multiple roles as journal editor, reviewer, and, latterly, vice-chancellor of Warwick University are all indicative of his role as a key shaper of the discipline in the UK and beyond.
