Abstract

Five meta-substituted sodium phenylsulphamates (from a series of 23 ortho-, meta-, and para-compounds synthesised) are sweet, X-ray crystal structure analysis and MNDO calculations show that the present dihedral angle theory fails to account for the taste of these compounds.
