Abstract

1. 1. The size and two-dimensional shape of mature erythrocytes were measured in twenty-eight herring of varying size from 13 to 31·5 cm. 2. 2. The modal cell size was 10 × 6·7μ. 3. 3. Mature erythrocytes tended to be more elliptical in outline in smaller individuals, becoming more circular in the larger fish.
