Abstract

This is a first time survey in Egypt to establish the economic costs of gender based violence in Egypt in 2015. The study fills an important gap in knowledge of the economic consequences of gender based violence in the Arab region. Based on a national survey of 20000 households, the survey provides rigorous estimates of the macro economic loss to the Egyptian economy due to gender based violence.
