Abstract
This review essay discusses the content, significance and reception of Tom Kettles posthumous collection of essays The Ways of War (1917), published one year after he was killed in the Battle of the Somme. It discusses Kettles little known critique of the war and his rationale as a high-profile nationalist for supporting the Allied war effort.
