Abstract

Sediments, as revealed by core sampling, were vertically stratified, and surficial layers had higher silt-clay content than indicated with grab sampling. Temporal pattern essentially followed a trend towards higher summer and lower winter silt-clay contents. Storm induced wave disturbance may be responsible for the lower silt-clay values encountered during the winter. Some implications for larval settlement arising from these observations are discussed. -from Author
