Abstract

It is argued that the dilemma posed in the tittle is an artificial one. In fact, the three therapeutic modalities, coronary artery bypass grafting, percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and pharmacotherapy with various agents, are mutually supportive. Depending on the stage in which the disorder is manifest and the anatomical status of the coronary artery tree as well as the function of the ventricle, one should choose the optimal approach, which may be a mixture of all three.
