Supplier performance evaluation: Lessons from a large multinational organization

Abstract

There are ever-increasing demands from customers for more manufacturing agility in the form of higher product variety, smaller production runs of more customised products and batch sizes with shorter delivery times. To meet these requirements, manufacturing must have rapid access to the required material. This can be achieved by either carrying a large variety of material in warehouse inventory or by managing the supplier base to create shorter and more responsive materials supply chains.
