Abstract
A 37-year-old man was admitted for acute MI. An emergent coronary angiogram showed a marked dilatation of the right coronary artery and a characteristic feature of thrombotic occlusion in the distal segment. We performed percutaneous aspiration thrombectomy using a TVAC™ (NIPRO Corporation). Successful revascularization was achieved with the TVAC™ alone. The aspirated particles were red thrombi. Intravascular ultrasound after the intervention revealed neither intimal plaque nor plaque rupture in the lesion segment. Because of its good trackability, pushability, and crossability, TVAC™ may be very useful in the treatment of acute MI when the lesion is located in the distal segment, and it contains large amounts of thrombi.
