Abstract
The topological transversality theorem is employed to study existence and uniqueness of solutions to the singular boundary value problem ψ(t)y' (t) = f(t,y(t)), y(0) = a, y(1) = b, where ψ may vanish at 0 provided ∫ 0 1(l/ψ(s))sds <; ∞,Thus the Thomas-Fermi and singular Emden-Fowler equations are included.
