Abstract

Innovation provides the means for enterprises to survive and grow. Due to the distributed and heterogeneous characteristics, it’s difficult to manage innovation across the extended enterprise. A novel vision for Semantic Innovation Management (SIM) is introduced. The system architecture combines ontology, inference and mediation technologies used to create a semantic web of innovation knowledge. A functional framework of the SIM System (SIMS) based on metadata harvesting and RDF access technologies is presented. An applied case study is explained in detail. This, in turn, facilitates all participating organisations and users in forming closer alliances based on the sharing of innovation information.
