Abstract
The sixth session of the Rural Voices series featured Dr Bernadette Quinn and Samantha Morris from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) who presented preliminary findings from Phase One of the IRC funded research project Festivals, Audiences and the Digital Experience (FADE). The project investigates the implications of the digital turn for arts festivals in rural Ireland asking: have they the necessary capacity to avail of the opportunities that digital technologies undoubtedly offer for cultural production and dissemination? And how can existing and planned cultural and digital infrastructures, including the National Broadband Plans Broadband Connection Points, support rural arts festivals and their needs into the future.
