Abstract

Proloctin was measured by radioimmunoassay in the blood of 79 patients with coeliac disease. Hyperprolactinaemia was found in 8 female patients (18%) and in 8 male patients (23.5%). Highest levels were found in patients responding favourably to a gluten free diet; statistically significantly lower levels were found in patients responding poorly to strict gluten with-drawal.
