PRAGRESS - Preventing and confronting aggressive behaviour of older people in long-term care.

Research output: Other contribution (Published)Other contribution

Abstract

Aggression and violence can present challenges for both formal and informal carers of older people. Medication, underlying illnesses or conditions, environmental factors and routine and task-orientated care can all serve as triggers for instances of aggressive behaviour, which can include verbal, physical and emotional aggression. The impacts upon caregivers can be both short and longer-term, and supports for carers can help to mitigate negative impacts. PRAGRESS is an online, open access education and training platform that has been designed in collaboration with caregivers to support carers. It is available in a range of languages, including English, German, Italian, Greek and Finnish.
