Abstract
There is no single uncontested definition of power, but many theorists converge on a general characterization of power either as thecapacity to make another do something that that person would not otherwise do or as the exercise of such a capacity. The reason for this lack of agreement is that power is either an essentially contested concept or a family resemblance concept.
