Abstract

We have studies the fluorescence of Cr3+ doped SrTiO3 for both E∥ [111] and E⊥[111] under uniaxial stress {norm of matrix}[111] at 4.2°K. The different intensity ratios for the two polarizations verify the tetragonal to trigonal phase transition under stress. The relative positions of Ē and 2Ā levels in the trigonal phase are determined The variation of critical stress with temperature is discussed.
