Abstract

A behavior therapy program for the treatment of stuttering is described, with special reference to its use by the office-based clinician. The program incorporates two major components: (l) self-management training based on “timeout from speaking”, and (2) “speech-retraining”. Although some mention is made of the empirical underpinnings of the program, the emphasis is on the description of the actual clinical methods involved.
