Various aspects of the migration turnaround form the theme for the first 6 papers in this volume while the remaining 2 papers focus on the place of ethnic minorities in larger cultural settings. The papers range widely in geographic coverage, from Scandinavia through peripheral areas of Britain and Ireland to the Mediterranean in Western Europe, with one paper documenting the Canadian experience. -Editor
