Average TGM concentrations measured at Mace Head over the entire period of two years are 1.8 ng nT High concentrations of up to 8 ng m^ have been recorded during pollution events. Atmospheric background conditions can be expected at Mace Head when the air masses arrive within the clean sector (180° to 300°) and when aerosol black carbon (BC) mass concentrations are low ( 75 ng
