Abstract

Growth rate was relatively fast for the first 7-8 yr of life, after which it gradually slowed down, with very little growth occurring after the 10th or 11th year. Females appeared to grow faster and live longer than males. Females matured and spawned when they were three years old; males did not spawn until they reached four years of age. Spawning extended from May-August. Thickback sole is a carnivore, feeding mainly on errant polychaetes and amphipods. -from Authors
