Abstract
Luminescence and lifetime measurements are presented for LaSr2Ga11O20:Cr3+. The room-temperature emission is dominated by a broadband stretching from almost-equal-to 670 nm to beyond 1.1 mum. It is suggested that the Cr3+ ions substitute in two distinct high-field sites with predominantly octahedral coordination.
