Abstract
In this paper we introduce a new iteration process whose rate of convergence is similar to the Picard iteration process and faster than other fixed point iteration processes. We then apply it to deal with the problem of approximation of fixed points of nearly asymptotically nonexpansive mappings. Our iteration process is independent from Mann [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 4 (1953); 506-610] and Ishikawa [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 4 (1974), 147-150] iteration processes.
