Abstract

On 19th February 2013, the Taoiseach and Tánaiste offered an emotional apology to women who had survived Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries – the infamous convents where over 10,000 girls and women were imprisoned and forced into unpaid labour between 1922 and 1996.iii
