Abstract
The feasibility and potential of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) elastography during cardiac catherization were studied. Nine patients scheduled for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) were investigated. First, the motion of the catheter during the heart cycles was examined. Following this, an attempt was made to search for a stable position of the catheter. Preliminary clinical results suggest that it is feasible to produce clinically useful elastograms.
