Abstract
There is a growing need to design assessments within higher-level education to improve academic integrity, critical thinking and learning. Interactive oral assessment (IOA) addresses academic integrity using true-life interactive summative assessment to determine students’ knowledge, understanding, critical thinking, and ability to problem-solve. While this form of assessment is used in a variety of Higher Educational Institute (HEI) academic disciplines and education programmes at third level, little is known on the utilisation and applicability of IOA within nurse and midwife education. In accordance with the methodological guidelines of the JBI research organisation this scoping review will systematically review the existing body of information addressing the subject on “use of Interactive Oral Assessment (IOA) in Third Level Undergraduate Nurse / Midwifery Education programmes”.
