Abstract
Inishbofin lies 6km from the mainland of Co. Galway. Soils are acid with thin peat in places. Agricultural activities involve low-intensity pastoral farming. Extinction of vascular plants is taking place, as is the loss of habitats as the result of human influence. Some 311 species were found in 1987, including 19 new records, but 80 species noted in previous surveys had disappeared. -S.J.Yates
