Abstract

The pharmacology and physiology of I₁ binding sites is perhaps better understood than that of I₂ and I₃ binding sites. Ligands that demonstrate selectivity for I₁ binding sites have already found clinical use for the treatment of hypertension. These ligands act on I₁ binding sites located in the brainstem.
