Abstract
LMCA disease significantly impacts morbidity and mortality as it threatens a large myocardial territory. Historically, CABG has been traditionally regarded as the treatment of choice for LMCA disease. However, percutaneous management of significant LMCA stenosis has evolved over the past 2 decades following advancements in PCI, stent technology, and use of intravascular imaging. In this chapter, we will shed light on the historical background of treatment of LMCA stenosis discussing medical management, CABG, and early PCI experience using POBA, BMS, and first-generation DES.
