Abstract

The HAVEN project aims to perform a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and health economic evaluation of the energy retrofit of Irish domestic dwellings. Both publically and privately owned dwellings were recruited, and participants were asked to complete a health questionnaire before and after the energy retrofit. Indoor air quality (IAQ) was measured in a subset of homes pre and post retrofit. Results from the health questionnaire (HQ) and IAQ surveys will be used to estimate the health impact and to complete an economic evaluation. Pre-retrofit health questionnaires have been returned from 113 dwellings, and indoor air quality surveys have been completed in 10 dwellings. Pre retrofit participants lived in low energy performing dwellings relying on fossil fuel heating. First assessment of the HQ data show the majority of participants were female (61%) and overall 71% of participants describe their health as good to very good. Pre retrofit HQ and IAQ data will be presented.
