    Abstract

    This collection of essays, memoirs and poems celebrates Pierre Joannon, one of the main mediators of knowledge of Irish matters in France and co-founder of Études Irlandaises, the most respected scholarly journal of Irish studies in France. The book contains contributions from 30 well-known Irish and French academics and major figures, including  Michel Déon of the Académie Française, Nobel Prize winners Seamus Heaney and John Hume, David Norris, Anne Madden, Louis Le Brocquy, Seamus Smith, Brendan Kennelly, Frédéric Grasset, John Bruton, Joe Lee, Lara Marlowe, Louis Cullen, Thomas Bartlett, Garret FitzGerald and Richard Kearney, to name just a representative selection.
