Research output: Contribution to a Journal (Peer & Non Peer)Articlepeer-review

Abstract

Design for assembly (DFA) is an important part of the concurrent engineering strategy for reduction of product manufacturing costs and lead times. In this paper the principles of DFA are outlined and the role of features (especially feature-based design) in DFA is described. An architecture for an integrated DFA CAPP system is described, based on ongoing work in the BRITE project no. 4661 (DEFMAT) and the work of Hua Yang in assembly process planning.
