Abstract

The effect of domain structure on the fluorescence of Cr3+-doped SrTiO3 is studied by examining the intensity ratio of the two R lines when the domain structure is changed under application of uniaxial stress. Fluorescence patterns of individual domains are seen to be most consistent with a magnetic dipole optical process. Theoretical Zeeman patterns of individual domains are given and these can be used to analyze experimental Zeeman data.
