N2 - Drug interactions are an important avoidable cause of illness. With an increasing array of medications available to treat human disease and an increasing number of patients taking many medications, the risk of clinically significant drug interactions increases. This review describes some examples of common drug interactions in gastroenterology. The underlying mechanisms are discussed, and strategies are proposed to avoid drug interactions in clinical practice.
