Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Methodology). The objectives are as follows: To evaluate the effectiveness of design-based methods to influence the completeness of item response to self-administered questionnaires. This will be achieved by assessing the effects of aspects of style, appearance and layout of self-administered questionnaires on the proportion of items completed in returned questionnaires.
