Abstract
A Paper discussing variation and stability of the same song across two Irish-speaking communities, Tory Island and Rannafast in Donegal, Ireland. Also a questioning of literary suspicion of oral transmission, comparing the dynamics of a colonialist text based model to a post-colonialist egalitarian perspective, giving equal weight to oral transmission.
