Abstract

The extraordinary growth in population and employment that the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) has experienced during the last decade together with the unprecedented increase in house prices have had significant repercussions for travel behaviour and commuting patterns. In this paper, we present the preliminary analysis of the simultaneous estimation of residential location and mode of travel to work. We provide estimation results for the effects of socio-economic characteristics on travel behaviour. Several discrete choice model structures are described and results are shown for multinomial logit (MNL) and nested logit (NL) models.
