Abstract
An unhealthy diet, lack of exercise and socio-economic background all play a role in Irish childhood obesity levels. As a rule, obese children become obese adults, a cause for concern when future health implications are considered for the individual and the burden of this on the Irish health service which is estimated to be 0.4 billion a year.
