Abstract
The structure of the core oligosaccharide of aerotolerant Campylobacter jejuni O:2 lipopolysaccharide was determined and found to contain 3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonic acid (Kdo), L-glycero-D-manno-heptose (LD-Hep), D-galactose, D-glucose, and phosphorylethanolamine (PEtn). Based on 1H, 13C and 31P NMR spectroscopic studies including 2D COSY, TOCSY, ROESY and heteronuclear 1H-31P and HMQC experiments it was established that the oligosaccharide has the following structure:
