Abstract
The dynamics of cell detachment from thermoresponsive polymers of different composition and structure was compared. A series of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and N-tert-butylacrylamide (NtBA) copolymers were prepared using plasma induced graft polymerization technique. Acrylamidobenzophenone (ABzPh) was also incorporated as a comonomer to obtain polymers which could be crosslinked by UV irradiation. It was observed that the more hydrophobic substrates had the best cell growth characteristics. The results show that the incorporation of ABzPh monomer slows the detachment for non-crosslinked substrates.
