N2 - Aims Objectives: It is well documented in the literature about the impact of diabetic foot disease, however seeing and supporting a patient from the very beginning of their diabetic journey, being newly diagnosed with diabetes and developing a foot ulceration is quite unique.
Content of Presentation: This case report provides a six month picture diary that the patient themselves created to map their journey with a diabetic foot wound. The case outlines how a patient first presents with a blister, following a holiday abroad, of which they self-managed before presenting to their doctor (GP) when it was failing to heal. The patient had input from the treatment room nurses before being referred to the Podiatrist when the wound was deteriorating. The Podiatrist assessed vascular and neurological status and liaised with the patients GP for further investigations such as x-ray, bloods and to request antibiotic cover. The bloods confirmed the diagnosis of diabetes and the patient was managed by a hospital Podiatry team and consultant regarding appropriate management of the foot wound and their new diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
