Abstract
This essay collection is the second volume in an ongoing project on intellectualsand publics (Fleck, Hess and Lyon 2009), addressing professional socialscientific interests in knowledge, intellectuals and publics. The title of thisvolume interpellates public sociology as one of the most challenging themesemerging within contemporary sociology, but does not really engage with it onits own terms.
