Abstract
Examines access to outpatient clinics in the W. of Ireland and focuses on the catchment of the regional hospital, Galway City. Transport-related problems are cited as the major cause for previously missed appointments. The highest rate of defaulting was found among patients who had been attending outpatient clinics for several years with a long interval between appointments. Housewives with young or elderly dependants form an occupational group with particular difficulties in keeping appointments. -H.Clout
