Abstract

This chapter will examine the status of Palestinian citizens of Israel by looking at the legal measures that regulate their engagement in the civil and political sphere. While Israel has argued a security basis for restrictions placed on its Arab population, this chapter details an architecture of exclusion that is deeply embedded within the socio-legal framework in Israel where race continues to define the concept of citizen and who is included and excluded from socio-economic and political decision-making institutions.
