Abstract
The applicability of artificial intelligence to simulation in manufacturing is illustrated through the development of a control system for a small, simulated production facility. The paper describes the simulation of this facility and the method in applying AI based simulation to scheduling and real time control within production activity control. Conventional simulation languages and AI based simulation are also briefly compared.
