Abstract

In this paper we discuss a multi-agent information trading system, which we argue provides a suitable and flexible design for distributed information retrieval, and a suitable test-bed for studying agent cooperation, coordination and negotiation. Within the fields of Information Retrieval (IR) and Information Filtering (IF), agents represent a suitable paradigm to conceptualise, design and implement an IR system.
