Abstract
This article describes a randomised controlled trial (RCT) study design to evaluate an innovative online tool to support education for sustainable development (ESD). The learning tool incorporates Systems Thinking and simulation into learning about two sustainability themes, deer herd management and fisheries. The study employs a factorial design to investigate whether Systems Thinking, simulation or both improve learning outcomes, when compared to a control group.
