N2 - This paper presents the design and simulation of an all-optical AND logic gate based on a two-dimensional photonic crystal with a hexagonal lattice. The '0' logical state for the input is the state where no light is emitted. The '0' logical state at the output is defined when the light emitted is close to zero. The '1' logical state for input is when light is emitted and for output is when the light emitted is close to the input source power. The PWE method was used for frequency calculations and the band structure. The FDTD method was used to calculate the field distribution within the structure. One of the important features of this structure is its very small size, which makes it suitable for optical integrated circuits. Furthermore, the difference between '0' and '1' logic states is large enough to decrease the probability of error in the output. In addition, the proposed optical AND gate has a high bit rate, which is calculated as 3.33Tb/s.
